An Open Letter of Wonderful News !!

Have you ever had an illness or an ailment that continually brought you down? We have all suffered at one time or another from sickness. Some people must live with diseases that cannot be cured.

Suppose your doctor told you that the disease YOU have is an incurable disease and this disease will lead to certain death. Now… suppose I told you that I know of a cure for this disease. Would you not be elated to hear about it? After all, here is a cure for a disease that will kill you if left untreated. Well, my friends, the bible talks of diseases in the manner described above, but it also speaks of a far worse disease that takes a different form. The other disease it mentions is “the sinful nature of man”. The bad news is, and listen closely friends, the bible says WE WERE ALL BORN WITH THIS DISEASE. Romans 3:11-12.

So, what is “sin”? Sin is transgression of the law of God. 1 John 3:4 The bible says we were all born sinful, inheriting the sinful nature from our ancestors all the way back to Adam and Eve. In fact, the bible says when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden that it not only resulted in the fall of mankind but also the earth. God cursed the earth. Genesis 3:16-18 The whole world became infested with sin and now it groans from the curse of God. Indeed, the very reason for death and sickness is due the what happened in the Garden of Eden. The bible says that the outcome of sin IS DEATH; spiritual death here on earth and eternal death in the hereafter. Romans 6:22-23 Therefore, the disease we were all born with quite literally leads to death. Spiritual death in that we do not, nor can we apart from His power, know God and separation from God in the hereafter in a place of eternal punishment called hell.

Now you might be saying “Now wait a minute!! I didn’t do anything to deserve this!! I’m basically a good person. I help out at the local food bank, I take care of my family the best I can, I give to those in need. Why would God who is supposed to be just and loving send me to hell for something I inherited? Well my friends, whether we admit it or not we are inherently sinful. We have all broken one of God’s ten commandments at one time or another .We can never live up to the commandments of God in our sinful state.

Friends, sin is a dreadful condition. Not only because, if we do not turn from our wicked ways and call upon the Lord for salvation and the forgiveness of our sins it will damn our souls to hell, but also because it also destroys our life here on earth. Sin infests every part of this natural earth. The devil uses the sinful nature of man to wreak havoc upon this earth. Just read the newspaper or watch the evening news if you want proof. There will be a day when all of us will stand before a holy God and give an account of our life here on earth. The bible says “ . . . it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” Hebrews 9:27. If everything I have said is really true does this make you afraid ? Because my dear friends, it should. We will be judged on that day and for those that do not belong to the Lord the bible tells us what the outcome will be. Revelation 20:12-14 It will be condemnation because we have broken God’s just laws and sinned against a holy and righteous God and for that we will pay the ultimate price of eternal damnation. And you say “wow, what awful news!! So what is the good news?”

AND NOW THE GOOD NEWS!!!

The good news is that it is God’s will that no person should perish! He wants, and has made a way for, everyone to turn to Him for salvation. He stands with open arms calling us to Him. He calls the children of men to Him and rejoices when we turn and seek Him. Isaiah 55:1-7 says:

“The Lord says, “All you who are thirsty, come and drink. Those of you who do not have money, come, buy and eat! Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

Why spend your money on something that is not real food? Why work for something that doesn’t really satisfy you? Listen closely to me, and you will eat what is good; your soul will enjoy the rich food that satisfies.

Come to me and listen; listen to me so you may live. I will make an agreement with you that will last forever. I will give you the blessings I promised to David.

I made David a witness of my power for all nations, a ruler and commander of many nations.

You will call for nations that you don’t yet know. And these nations that do not know you will run to you because of the Lord your God, because of the Holy One of Israel who honors you.”

So you should look for the Lord before it is too late; you should call to him while he is near.

The wicked should stop doing wrong, and they should stop their evil thoughts. They should return to the Lord so he may have mercy on them. They should come to our God, because he will freely forgive them.”

Friends, God loves you and He cared so much for you that He sent His son Jesus Christ, WHO WAS WITHOUT SIN, to be an atonement (to pay the fine if you will) for our sins and transgressions. Jesus did this by dieing on a cross and in doing so paying the price that it costs God for your sins and my sins and bearing them on the cross for us. He did this so that we might not suffer the consequences for our sins. In other words, God supplied the cure for our disease. My question to you my friends, is, deep down in your heart, do you want what God offers you? Forget about what others are going to think, forget about trying to reason all this out at this point, just believe that God does indeed exist and He stands there calling out to you that He has paid the price for your sins. Just come to Him in faith and believe and you will see what wonders He has for you. He calls us to turn from our sins and believe in and follow Jesus Christ and He will do the rest. He stands waiting with loving open arms to you and me. He paid the ultimate price by going to the cross for us. What more could He do? Does He love you? You bet He does and He wants you to spend eternity with Him.

Please do not hesitate! This day may be your last. The bible says “NOW is the time of God’s favor, NOW is the day of salvation” 2 Corinthians 6:2. There will come a day when that will NOT be so. The bible says it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:30-31 But if you turn from your sins and surrender your life to Jesus Christ, God will forgive you and He will give you a life that is full of peace and joy and free of the bondage of sin.

I have nothing to gain by telling you this. I was once in your shoes and thought this “God stuff” was a bunch of foolishness. 1 Corinthians 1:17-19 Then one day, after having enough of trying to do this life on my own, I called out to the Lord in desperation and He heard me and changed me into a new creation from the inside out. He was there for me and He is there for you if you will call upon the name of Jesus. Although you might question just where God is sometimes, let me assure you He is not far from any of us. Acts 17:26-28 Friends, I am not the same person that I used to be. That person is long gone. He has given me a new heart and has put His spirit within me. He will do that for you also. Job 16:22 says “Only a few years will pass before I go on the journey of no return”. Dear friends, that journey awaits us all. Do you know the DESTINATION of your upcoming journey?

Today 150,000 people in this world will die. Will you or I be one of them? Are you ready to die? Do you know where you will go when you leave this world?

Please, repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and have that assurance.
