I was born in New Brunswick, Canada where I now reside with my wonderful wife of 30 years. One day in 2006 after 23 years of living a “make believe” Christian life, God called me to seek true life. For two months I fasted and sought the Lord God on my knees until one day God answered my prayers and did a work in me that left me a changed man. For the first time in my life I am whole, complete and full of the joy that only the Lord Jesus can give.
So who am I? Well, the past is past. I am a new creation, a child of the King, a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you could describe me as a man who identifies with Jeremiah in verses 20:8-9
“Whenever I speak, I cry out
proclaiming violence and destruction.
So the word of the LORD has brought me
insult and reproach all day long.
But if I say, “I will not mention him
or speak any more in his name,”
his word is in my heart like a fire,
a fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary of holding it in;
indeed, I cannot.”
If you are looking for an article that is closest to my heart I would have to say it is The Happy Slave.
I have taken the time to write this blog for two reasons:
First and foremost, like Jeremiah, I cannot hold it in, I must proclaim the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ!
Yes, my friends, the gospel of Jesus Christ IS good news!
Romans 5: 7 says that God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Christ, the Saviour of mankind paid the price for you and me! The bible is the GREATEST LOVE STORY ever told. Read it if you have not, then, pray that God will speak to you through this living book called the bible.
The second reason is also tied to the first, and that is the Lord has laid it upon my heart to call lukewarm Christians to Him. In this day and age of modernity and relative thinking, the church has strayed from the truth and holiness God has called us to. How many times have I heard unbelievers say they would not consider Christianity because of how believers have modeled their faith. The twenty-first century church of North America has fallen into the trap of the numbers game. The mode of thinking is unless a church large in numbers it is not “successful”. So the gospel have been watered down to remove the hard truths and twisted into a gospel of accommodation. The German writer Dietrich Bonhoeffer called it a gospel of “cheap grace”. A gospel of unconditional love from God at no cost. Just say the sinner’s prayer and stand back and watch the blessings flow. Folks, I am here to tell you that the grace of God is not “cheap”. It cost God his only son Jesus Christ and he did it for us. Jesus said in Luke “”If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?” Luke 9:23-25. To follow Jesus is not simply a matter of saying the sinner’s prayer or doing good works to try to get yourself into heaven. There is a much different cost. The cost is surrender to Him and His leading in your life. It is a life of holiness and sanctification. A life sold out completely to Him. If Jesus is to be your Saviour He must also be your LORD. The Lord is expecting a soul devoted to Him not a casual Sunday follower. When this happens, once we give our life to Him, He transforms us and gives us a life like we have never known before. He puts a desire in us to know Him more and a love for others like we have never had before.
Lennard Ravenhill once said the “Lord is not coming back for a bag lady, He is coming back for a pure and spotless bride”. I believe we are in an age where the His bride is being made pure for Him. There is coming a great separation between lukewarm believers and true believers who know and LOVE the Lord. I was one of those lukewarm “make believe” Christian. I thought I was saved and born again, but, I can tell you with all certainty now, that I was not. I believe the Lord is calling His church, a church that will love Him with all their hearts and with all their minds and all their strength.
A. W. Tozer, the American preacher, author and speaker once said “Religion today is not transforming people; rather it is being transformed by the people. It is not raising the moral level of society; it is descending to society’s own level, and congratulating itself that it has scored a victory because society is smilingly accepting its surrender.”. I pray that the Lord will continue to call His children out of the sad state of religion we call Christianity today and into His wonderful light.
If you do not know and love the Lord I pray that the Holy Spirit will use this blog to enlighten you and lead you into repentance and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have already taken on the name of the Lord Jesus, I pray that this blog will convict, strengthen, and edify you in the Lord.
